Farsund has 10 kilometres of long, beautiful and striking beaches to offer those who want to enjoy the closeness to the ocean and have fun by the beach.

At the Lista beaches you can go for long walks, swim, play and watch the birdlife. The Lista Beaches are the best in the country for windsurfing and kiting.

Lomsesanden is one of the most popular beaches. The shallow water makes it perfect for the kids. From Lomsesanden you can hike over to Loshavn or go the opposite direction and head towards Husebysanden around Einarsneset. Einarsneset is a very popular hiking area, all year around.

The many trails in this area will allow you to take different paths and that will give you new experiences. The smaller beaches may give you the opportunity to have a beach all by ourself.

Lista are rich in plant- and birdlife, and large parts of the beaches are naturreserves. This means that windsurfing and kiteing is prohibited in certain parts, and dogs must be in a leash.

20 of Europe’s best under-the-radar beaches

Nordhasselvika, Farsund, Norway

The Lista peninsula in southern Norway, where the wetlands meet sand dunes and the sea, is a haven for birdlife. Long, sandy beaches stretch from Lomsesanden to Lista lighthouse. Nordhasselvika is a beautiful curved bay that you’ll often have all to yourself. There are no facilities, so stock up on delicious baked goods at Edgars Bakeri in Farsund on your way there. Stay nearby at Lista lighthouse apartments (from 1,500 kroner/£108), and get your own key to the 19th-century lighthouse. The two self-catering apartments sleep up to seven. Lista Bird Observatory (which has the highest number of bird species in Norway) is based here and lends binoculars to guests.
